I do research in applied/serious gaming at NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences. I'm particularly interested in the intersection of gaming and organization, e.g. how to organize the serious game design process, or how online gamers organize themselves.
Teacher, researcher, designer
I'm a Researcher at NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences. I obtained a Ph.D. degree at Delft University of Technology with the dissertation 'Towards Playful Organizations', for which I won the German Simulation and Gaming Award in 2015. I have taught various aspects of (serious or applied) game design. I do research on the intersection of gaming and organization:
- I research how online gamers organize themselves in 'guilds' and 'clans', which led to my dissertation and the book 'Online Gaming and Playful Organization', as well as this co-authored article in Organization Studies.
- I research and perform different kinds of validation during and at the end of serious/applied game design projects, which led to several scientific journal articles.
