I teach courses in (applied) game design at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht. To that end I research on the intersection of gaming and organization, e.g. how to organize the serious game design process, or how online gamers organize themselves.
Teacher, researcher, designer
I'm a Lecturer and Researcher at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht. I obtained a Ph.D. degree at Delft University of Technology with the dissertation 'Towards Playful Organizations', for which I won the German Simulation and Gaming Award in 2015. I teach various aspects of (serious or applied) game design. I research on the intersection of gaming and organization:
- I research how online gamers organize themselves in 'guilds' and 'clans', which led to my dissertation and the book 'Online Gaming and Playful Organization', as well as this co-authored article in Organization Studies.
- I research and perform different kinds of validation during and at the end of serious/applied game design projects, which led to several scientific journal articles.
